She's 45 years old and adores living in beautiful North Devon. Her family has been rooted here for more than thirty years, and finds it nice to live in a place with such strong family ties.
Pie started 'Design by Pie' back in 2011 after graduating and gaining valuable, professional design experience within the industry. She is pleased to be able to offer independent graphic design services with an experienced, straightforward, and creative approach and, more importantly, an understanding of what it takes to run a business from the ground up.

Who is Pie?
Pie's Story
Over the years I've seen how many people with brilliant ideas felt stuck; they had dreams of launching a business brand, but struggled with all the things that make a brand feel professional, consistent, and real.
I founded Design by Pie in 2011, with one goal: to help people bridge that gap, without the stress, without expensive overheads, just guided support and creativity that’s accessible.
Since becoming a graphic designer, I’ve sharpened my skills across print and digital from packaging and large-format print work to websites, social graphics, digital brochures, and e-books.
I’ve seen first-hand how crucial it is to have both heart and function in design: your brand needs to tell your story, yes, but also needs to be usable everywhere. For me, that means listening hard to what my clients need, whether they’re starting with nothing, tidying up what they’ve got, or moving from a rough logo into something that scales.
I believe in design with personality, consistency, flexibility, clear branding systems, and clean visual direction.

Pie's role and experience is as a (visual) creative designer rather than, for example, a back-end web developer, Google analyst, or copywriter.
So, she will happily, and often does, work alongside other freelancers and/or existing creative teams within a client's organisation if required.
At times, Pie will rely on and introduce you to the expertise of other independent professionals when it comes to those tasks that sit outside her area of expertise.

Pie's Approach
Laid back yet professional
Pie works from home on a completely remote basis and has done so successfully for many years with many recurring clients. Most of the communication is done via email or phone. (Not a mobile, just a good old-fashioned landline).
A face-to-face meeting or video chat is often useful (it's nice to put a face to a name), but it's not always essential.
Pie also does not use texting or social media to communicate with clients, but is available to answer phone calls or emails during the usual working day.
If Pie is not available, she'll be enjoying some downtime and life's simple pleasures, namely dog walking, gardening, cooking, and being creative.
Straight talking and empathetic
Pie is happy to provide advice and a professional opinion within the creative design field when needed. But please know that Pie is solely here to support your graphic design needs, not to give you overall business advice or even to commit you to any services you are not looking for.
Pie will use her knowledge and experience in the world of graphic design to support your design requirements and is here to offer cost-effective, innovative and professional design solutions, whether it's for a single, 'one-off' project or a continuous partnership.
